1 in 100 children are born with a heart defect (CHD).
Worldwide that means one million children are born each year with a heart defect.
Half of these children will need surgery to survive to adulthood yet 90% of them will be born in a developing country where access to the lifesaving intervention they need is scarce or non-existent.
Big Love Little Hearts worked to make sure that all children with heart defects have a chance to live, no matter what part of the world they happen to have been born in.
By collaborating with other organizations to get these children the surgery they needed to live and by using innovative diagnostic programs in developing countries, we helped save more than 500 lives. In 2014 we decided the best way to help the most children was by becoming part of a larger organization.
